Happy Cheena Cow year to you!
So like I was having the annual Chinese new year gathering with the entire family and we were all gathered in front of the teevo watching all the count down shows when this random but funny thought came to my head.
Don't you think Cai Shen Ye (God of fortune) and Santa Claus is essentially the same person just in a different outfit?
- They're both short and stout with a big tummy
- They both have beards. (Just that santa's white and Cai Shen Ye's black)
- They both adorn red outfits during the festive season
- They both wear headpieces
- They both carry gifts that everyone wants. (Money and luck and presents)
- Santa's song is "Santa Claus is coming to town" Cai Shen Ye's tune is "Cai Shen dao!" (God of fortune is here!)
- Both of them work for the good of departmental stores. ( I bet they get loads of commission aye!haha)
So I tell you! They're just really the same guy having a job for 2 months a year! See what a safe job he has eh! If you have anymore inputs on this, do tell me so I can add on to this list on why Santa has a twin in the Chinese culture. haha.
